Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba attempts to recapture the magic of its predecessor, Hasseen Dillruba. But it falls short in delivering the same level of thrill and intrigue. While the movie does offer its share of some twisted turns, it lacks the gripping intensity that made the first part so memorable. The film attempts to delve deeper into the twisted world of its characters, it ultimately falls short in delivering a satisfying narrative.
The sequel picks up where the first film left off. Rani (Taapsee Pannu) and Rishu (Vikrant Massey) entangled in a web of deceit and manipulation. However, the novelty of the first film’s plot twists is replaced by a sense of déjà vu. Unfortunately, the script this time is more predictable. Kanika Dhillon’s writing starts strong, drawing viewers in with an engaging beginning. But as the film progresses, the narrative loses its momentum. The second half of the Phir Aayi Hasseen DillRuba, in particular, feels messy and lacks the sharpness which needed to sustain interest of viewers.
Vikrant Massey’s role lacked depth and impact. His performance was seemingly lifeless and lacks proper energy level which can mesmerise the audience. In the portrayal of his character, he felt more like a third wheel than a central character throughout the Phir Aayi Hasseen DillRuba. Taapsee Pannu again proves her mettle. She delivers an impressive performance. The addition of Sunny Kaushal is a pleasant surprise, as he showcase strong performance skills that stands out.
The character of Jimmy Shergill is totally useless.
The predecessor, Hasseen DillRuba, had a charm and thrilling story on its own. But the sequel completely tarnishes that experience. This time the makers letdown the expectations of the audience. In truth, Phir Aayi Hasseen DillRuba gis total time waster and not worthy of watching.
